“I didn’t know I could write poetry, but I heard the
others do it before, so I thought I would try.”
Seedlings specially grown to be
planted near the tree.
“Thank you, Lord for this tree.
Thank you for its subtle, earthy shades, that
accentuate the vivid green all around.
Thank you for the weathered bark, armour
against the sun, wind and rain.
Thank you for the wrinkles, knots, crevices
and holes that write the tree’s life story.
Thank you for the steadfast trunk that
connects this tree to your earth and sky.
God bless this tree.
A large variety of languages enabled the relation between the teacher~researchers and the tree to become
visible. Each language has a potential for elaborating different qualities of the tree: movement, colour, shape,
mood… In turn, languages offered unique places of encounter between teacher~researchers, trees, gifts and the
language itself. Sensitivity to these encounters enabled teacher~researchers to become more sensitive to the
encounters of others.
