…Our Story… EDITORIAL
ho knew at the point we and our parents decided on Grundtvig
International Secondary School, this would be our fate? Of
Wcourse, we all anticipated the day we would be seated, dressed in
our graduation gown and cap, clutching our hard-earned transcripts and
credentials, hearing people tell us “Congratulations” again and again,
wiping tears of farewell and looking forward to life after here.
It feels just like yesterday…
It was just you and I, surrounded by so many other young people. Some
from our previous school, and many others, strangers. Then the moment
was over and life began.
We were bombarded with school work which tasked and tossed us
around. Those who were stars in their previous schools met their match.
Our times at home were highly treasured, knowing fully well that we would
be returning to this “prison”. Some teachers seemed to look for any
opportunity not to spare the rod with us.
…Then we grew…
We witnessed the highest influx of students in our first year of senior secondary school
compared to the rest of our years. We made new friends, aimed for higher goals and planned on
how to actualize our dreams. Trust me, it was not easy. Everyone seemed to believe in the
“obnoxious behavior” that usually overcame students once they became seniors. Of course this
was not true. Many of us fought against this stereotype. Many lost the fight while some gave in to
it.
So this phase is over.
Now we've finally completed the last lap of the race and are ready to receive our laurels. Sadly,
we lost some good friends on the way. We ran a good race but hope to meet again someday. But
till then, understand that life isn't what you are given. It's what you create, what you conquer and
what you aim to achieve. Success won't come to you; you go to it. Never let anyone tell you the
sky is your limit when there are footprints on the moon.
The future is unknown, but very bright.
Every Grundtvigian is meant to be known wherever he or she goes. It is just a matter of time
before news of degrees, awards and many of our attained feats reach the ears of our alma mater.
We would be big bang that would change our country, our generation, our world.
We are going to be doctors, engineers, lawyers, politicians, artists, accountants, designers,
architects, scientists and much more in the near future. Because we want to, we have to strive.
Because we aspire, we can. I know we believe, so surely we shall be.
We came.
We saw the crowd.
And we stood out.
Now, we are off to conquer the world which we've been well prepared for.
st
We can do this, as the Quintessential set of the 21 century. This is our story.
