LET EDUCATION BE ENHANCED!
Among the solutions adopted to tackle the global challenges is education. Education is
perceived to have the key to the monumental problems tearing today's world apart. However,
education itself is seriously challenged, hence solution seems far from man.
Education is challenged because everything we have taught the children in the past 200 years is
just but ONE ITEM, ONE CURRICULUM. Children, over the years, have been taught that
machines will do better than man. We have even striven to produce machines to replace man in
the form of robots. Man through education, has been made to believe more in the machines
more than himself; his mind is already programmed to be inferior to machines. What a wrong
education! How can education now solve the global challenges facing man when man itself is an
inferior being? Who can rescue man from this self inflicted injury?
The present challenges now to think on are: what we are going to teach our children for the
future? What will be the content of the curriculum for the tomorrow's child?
We are confronted with how to teach the children to win the machines. The machines will
never be able to win man, for the machines have the chips, the wires, the motors, the
wheels, the sensors but humans have the heart!!! The gravity and the capacity of the
machines are by no means a match to the feelings of the heart of man.
The future of education is not going to be competition for knowledge. Rather, it is going to be
competition for creativity, a solemn and well articulated competition for imagination, a
competition for learning and most importantly, a competition for independent thinking.
The future of education is not going to be knowledge-driven, rather, it is going to be driven by
new trace elements, and education SHALL be wisdom-driven and experience-driven. This is a
new order to rescue man from total collapse and its twisted logic of wrong education. The past
was knowledge and manufacturing driven-education. The future is creativity-driven.
The new attention is creative thinking through the use of the natural talents endowed from
above. It is the seed for tomorrow's world. Each child should be allowed to use his/her talents in
the best way possible for whatever you don't employ, you forfeit. Whatever you don't use, you
lose as lack of use causes loss. Ambitions unused decline; faith unused decreases and vitality
unused diminishes.
As I conclude, dear parents, education did not start in the school and it will never stop in school;
it is a lifelong activity. Education is not for the black man, the white or the brown; it is for those
who literally challenge themselves to be the best they can all the days of their lives. Education is
for those who will be one hour early rather than one minute late. Education is for those that
want to pursue excellence through critical thinking and innovative drive, through harnessing
their talents. Aristotle said '' You become what you do repeatedly''. Discover your talents, pursue
excellence, do it the right way, solve global problems, then you are properly educated. I wish
the pupils, the students and the hard working staff a memorable summer break.
