No Power

This was the most widespread power out recorded here. In its initial moment, more than two hundred
thousand households were cut off the power supply at once, from north to south. Even though there are
storms every year, and it seems like this scenario is predictable, this time, too, the electric company was
unable to handle the load. The electric company’s management blamed the employees yesterday, for not
working in emergency mode and trying to get more jobs using the storm. The employees denied. The court
forced them to go back to working full time, but still situations like this one were documented - an employee
sawing a tree with a hand saw for hours. The malfunction continued all through the night. In Hod Hasharon
we met the Harari family by candle light, trying to find the positive sides in this depressing situation. On the
floor below them, Yehudit, who can’t walk up or down the stairs, is under siege in her apartment. And all
this happens on the first rain, on the first day of this winter.
