Combining preposition
with a pronoun
Second column of the following chart shows the general conjugation
structure.
In Hebrew, prepositions can be directly connected in writing to pronouns
creating one combined word. The endings of these combined words are
the same for all prepositions corresponding to the pronouns.
ׁ ֶשלLet's take the preposition . It means "belong to", "of" and the
ְלpreposition (to). These prepositions are conjugated in Hebrew
according to the pronoun by adding certain corresponding suffixes related
to the pronoun.

* Please note: The feminine forms of ַא ֶתן/ ֵהןand their respective
ׁ ֶשּ ָל ֶכן/ ׁ ֶשּ ָל ֶהןare not in use in modern Hebrew. Usually people use
ׁ ֶשּ ָל ֶכם/ ׁ ֶשּ ָל ֶהםfor both masculine and feminine.
