Binyan Pi'el – Introduction
We will start our detailed study of the verb groups with Binyan Pi'el,
since it is one of the easiest groups to understand its structure in both:
infinitive form and present tense.
The verbs associated with this Binyan have the same sound pattern
..I.. E.. in past tense as the sound pattern of the name of Binyan Pi'el
(pI'El) suggests.
Binyan Pi'el includes many very useful verbs such as:
ִׁשיּ ֵלם ִסיּ ֵפר ִקי ֵבל ִבי ֵקר ִדי ֵבר
Paid Told Got Visited Talked
shIlEm sIpEr kIbEl bIkEr dIbEr
Pay attention again: all of these verbs have the vowels ..I.. E.. for
third person in the past tense, which are the same vowels as in the name
of the Binyan pI'El and maintain the sound pattern: ..I.. E..
The music of Binyan Pi'el in the infinitive form is:
L'…A…E… ְל ַו ֵו
Example:
To speak – ְל ַד ֵבר
