Description of Ulpan-Or’s 1 Grade Program

An interactive and integrated program which guides the student
through a step-by-step and coherent approach through the
               following content:

                   1. Familiarity with the Hebrew letters – both reading and writing

                   2. Reading and writing simple sentences
                   3. Expanded vocabulary - learning up to 10 new words for each
                       letter
                   4. Reading and writing exercises and activities

                   5. Teachings on wide-ranging topics including months of the year,
days of the week, arithmetic, weather, and more
                   6. Learning through conversation
                   7. Connecting to Israeli culture in an authentic way and becoming

friends with “Sabras” (native Israelis) through filmed dialogues

The program is accompanied by a detailed teacher guide with aids

and instructions such as: teaching diagnostics, flash cards,
classroom games, online games, activities, art projects, audio and
               visual support, and more!

The program is based on 22 main units – the number of letters of the
Hebrew alphabet (with a few bonus units as well). In each unit, the
student will encounter a different letter, how to read and write the
letter, as well as learn vocabulary and phrases based on the letter. Each

subsequent unit builds on the previous unit so that the student repeats
and reviews what has been learned, allowing the student to deepen
his/her language acquisition while progressing through the program.

The interactive exercises in each unit are a fun and experiential way
for the student to learn in the classroom; and can be modified to be

done in pairs, individually, or as an entire classroom. Each unit is
accompanied by a dialogue so that the student learns through
conversation and can start speaking Hebrew from day one!

As the program progresses, the student begins to learn basic syntax

and how to formulate proper sentences in Hebrew. The student will
