In a world of despair, music gives us hope. In these unprecedented times we realize our
way of life is changing right before our eyes. The things that people took for granted
have come to a halt. Most everyone’s daily routine has changed drastically. Humanity
finds comfort in each other, which right now due to social distancing, is severely
fractured. So, where do the people turn now that everything has slowed down? The
answer is entertainment in its many forms.

Some folks like to binge-watch TV, while others play video games or scour the
internet for information. Then there are the music seekers…we turn to our passion

and love for music. Some seek the familiar and others, like me, search for new

bands and artists to delve into. Luckily, in the digital age, my quest is easily satisfied,
although I am currently unable to catch any new bands live.

Prior to the spread of Covid-19 and the subsequent global pandemic, I was
planning my annual adventure to SXSW in Austin, TX. As I am usually heavily
tied up prior to and during my trip, I made an early selection to cover for my
ION Indie Magazine article. I selected a band that I have come across many
times in my search process. They stood out to me as a band that is doing
everything right. They had been on my mind as an act that I wanted to catch
live, especially since we share the same Hoosier turf. My newest selection for
ION Indie Magazine’s ReverbNation Feature Artist is the Ft. Wayne, Indiana-
based band, Overseas Love Crisis, AKA OLC.

First, let's discuss their name to avoid any confusion. The band prefers

the acronym OLC to the long version Overseas Love Crisis. They
actually liked the letters and came up with the title to fit them. I find this
an interesting twist on the entire, “What are we going to call ourselves?”
saga that all new acts face. They went with OLC and figured the rest
would come to them eventually. In the meanwhile, they just made up
different versions when fans asked what OLC meant.
