Marty Haviik: Armando, thank you very much for giving me this opportunity to chat you up
about you and your music and your thoughts about music in general. So, a real quick brief
history about yourself and the band. Would you share how you got started in music?
Armando Moreno: Thank you for having me! The Revival is currently comprised of my longtime
friend Oscar Acedo on bass from Arizona, Ricardo Rosario on guitars from Puerto Rico, and Charlie
Garci on drums, also from Arizona. Myself, I’m from Arizona but raised in California. I started
playing guitar at age 13 and by the time I was 16 I was playing in bands in Ventura, CA. My first
bar gig was when I was 17 years old. When I was in the fifth grade, I heard Van Halen's ‘Eruption’
and ‘You Really Got Me’ on the radio and I never heard anything like it. It was a life changing
experience! I knew that was what I wanted to do from that point on. But even before that, I was
surrounded by music. My dad was a bassist and still is to this day. I heard him play Tejano, Cumbia,
Salsa, and 70's funk. My mom played violin and was into The Beatles, Santana, Chicago,
Fleetwood Mac. So, I was destined for music either way… LOL! Fast forward to my band now. My
first and current solo album release, ‘There & Back Again,’ was inspired by the passing of my mom.
I've always been the lead guitarist/songwriter in bands throughout my life, but my mom’s passing
was the catalyst to make me step into the singer/songwriter role. I wrote and recorded songs in her
tribute in the music era she loved like The Beatles, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, etc.
