LS: How would you describe your musical style to new
listeners?

GGFO: We usually say something like indie-pop or
synth-pop/R&B. This is always a tough question
because our music is definitely a fusion of different
genres.

LS: From where do you draw the inspiration behind your
sound?

GGFO (Jon): While Luke and I both have eclectic
musical tastes, our inspiration for GGFO started with our
shared love for classic artists like Michael Jackson,
Prince, and Whitney Houston. From there we both bring
our own stuff to the table. Luke's impossibly clean and
meticulous production is informed by his love for bands
like Steely Dan and legendary producers like Quincy
Jones, while my emotional lyrics and passion for big
melodies are surely a product of my love for
singer/songwriters like Elton John, James Taylor, and
The Beatles.

LS: Tell us about your creative writing and recording
process so far.

GGFO (Jon): I am constantly making voice memos of
ideas and writing lyrics down everywhere. I'll share most
of my ideas with Luke and we'll move forward with the
ones he connects with. Luke produces, mixes,
engineers, and does all the art for our songs. It's great
when we can be together to write and record, but we
often work remotely. We both have home studios and
send song ideas back and forth.
