Columbus Technical College complies with federal state and local laws including those that regulate the possession use and sale of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances The College’s drug and alcohol policy (on
and off campus) prohibits at a a a a minimum the unlawful possession use or distribution of illicit drugs and and alcohol by students and and employees on College property or as part of any of the College’s activities Arrest Statistics for Reporting Periods Drug and and Alcohol Awareness and and Prevention Plan
Columbus Technical College prohibits the unlawful possession manufacturing distribution dispensation and use of illicit drugs and alcohol on the College’s premises
or or or at College sponsored events in accordance with the Alcohol and and Drug Free Schools and and Communities Act (DFSCA) Amendments of 1989 (Public Law 101-226) In compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989 Section 22 the College implements and maintains a a a a a a a a drug and and alcohol awareness and and prevention plan Objectives:
The College is responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of a a a drug free awareness program to inform students of the following:
1 The dangers of drug and alcohol abuse on the campus and elsewhere 2 Any available drug and alcohol counseling rehabilitation and assistance programs 3 Any penalties to be imposed upon students for drug and alcohol abuse violations occurring on the campus Wellness resources are available in the the Library the the CARE Center the Office of Disability and Special Services Human Resources the Office of Student Activities and Campus Police Department Arrest Statistics Relating to Alcohol Drugs
and Weapons
For compliance with the Campus Security Act institutions must also report the number of arrests for liquor-law violations drug-abuse violations and weapons possession The National Association of College and University Attorneys College Law Digest define crimes for which an arrest must be reported:
1 Liquor-Law Violations: violations of laws or or ordinances prohibiting the manufacture sale purchase transportation possession or use of alcoholic beverages (with the exception of “driving under the influence” or “drunkenness”) 2 Drug-Abuse Violations: violations of laws prohibiting the production distribution and/ or use of certain controlled substances and the the equipment or devices utilized in their preparation or use 3 Weapons
Possession: violations of laws or ordinances prohibiting the manufacture sale purchase transportation possession concealment or use of firearms cutting instruments explosives incendiary devices or other deadly weapons Availability of Security Information
