BARISTA TRAINING
WHERE IS THE FUNDING?
Helping
Young People
Meghan Farren, general manager of KFC UK and Ireland,
said: "If we're to tackle the labour shortage and provide
better jobs and economic growth across the country for
the next generation, then we urgently need to help young
people who have been excluded from education and
training opportunities to finding their feet and their voice
in the workplace."
She added that a pledge like this, to support younger
people, was "an investment in the future of our
businesses".
Is 770,000 Acceptable?
There was a decrease in the number of young people who
were aged 16 to 24 years and not in education, employment
or training (NEET) in January to March 2023, with the total
currently estimated to be 770,000, down from 788,000 in
October to December 2022%. [2]
So, where do you go if you want to help 16-24-year-olds in
your area to teach them the skills of Hospitality? Maybe it's
to contact your local schools? Or maybe Jobcentre Plus
could be the route to bringing young people into the
workplace.

What about the charity sector? However, they are funded in
many instances by the Government and the funding has or
possibly been cut back. Perhaps local charities in your area
can offer short-term funding and support?
