briefing took most the day and appeared to be quite
successful. Two days later I was called into a Secure
Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) and had the
following conversation with the manager of that program:
>Manager: “During your part of the briefing given two
days ago to that unnamed group you committed a security
violation!
>Me: “I don’t understand – the meeting was held at the
Secret level and all our information was properly
marked.”
>Manager: “Even so, you said something that was
beyond the security level you were briefing.”
>Me: So, always being very security conscious, and
having absolutely no idea what I might have said, I asked:
“What was it I said that constituted the violation so it
would not happen again?”
>Manager: looking at me sternly “I cannot tell you what
you said that was a violation because you’re not cleared
into that particular program!!”
