LMC GENERALCOMMUNITY
LMC LADIES
IN LOCKDOWN .
.
The Nine & Wine group are an international set of 38 women, who when at La Manga Club, play nine holes of golf on a Saturday afternoon. Traditionally, after finishing, they retire to the OwnersClubhouse for a 'tipple'.
'Stuck' in various countries during the Covid-19 lockdown, in a matter of days, they set up a WhatsApp group to stay in touch and keep up their sp irit s.
Astalesand talentsbegan to reveal themselves, they proved that lockdown need not be gloomy. Their shared laughter and experiences
embraced the spirit of people with a
home at LMC and, with their permission, we'd share their fun.
They swapped their favourite, home recipes with each other and will be publishing a Recipe Book (Dine with Nine & Wine) in October. All proceeds from the book will go to a food bank in the local area run by Buen Samaritano (The Good Samaritans).
The group began to discover some excellent, latent cookery skills, two or three very talented artists and some very skilled gardeners. Indoor Table Tennis replaced golf (with some husbands under strict instructions to 'hit the ball straight back to my bat!'). Others took the opportunity to learn or brush up on Spanish language skills. One lady made place-mats and quilts. Another, very admirably, actually made her daughter's 'scrubs' so that she could continue as a frontline worker. As masks became more challenging to buy, the ladies got creative and made some out of old knickers! There wasalso a brief mention of pilates and yoga. However, chat about weight gain, and the lack of hairdressing facilities generally took over.
"I've put my bathroom scales in the corner, and that's where the little liar will stay until she apologises".
