SAN DIEGO (Feb. 6, 2022) Cmdr. Kevin K. McClellan, executive
officer of the guided-missile destroyer USS O'Kane (DDG 77), is
greeted by his family after returning to homeport at Naval Base
San Diego. O'Kane, a part of the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike
Group, returned to Naval Base San Diego, Feb. 6, 2021, following
an independent deployment to the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of
operation in support of national tasking and to ensure a free and

LEMOORE, Calif. (12 Feb., 2022) Cmdr. Mark Cochran, left,
commanding officer of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147, is
welcomed home by family at Naval Air Station Lemoore, Calif.
VFA-147, as part of Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group and
Carrier Air Wing 2, returned home following an eight-month
deployment to the U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet areas of operations.
The Carl Vinson CSG is the first carrier strike group to deploy
with a combination of fourth and fifth-generation platforms
within Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 2 that predominantly represent
the "Airwing of the Future", including the F-35C Lightning
IIs of VFA-147 and the CMV-22B Ospreys of Fleet Logistics

MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Feb. 6, 2022) Two F/A-18E Super
Hornets attached to the Blue Blasters of Strike Fighter Squadron
(VFA) 34 and the Fighting Checkmates of Strike Fighter Squadron
(VFA) 211 and two Italian navy AV-8B Harrier II aircraft fly over
the Mediterranean Sea, Feb. 6, 2022. The Harry S. Truman Carrier
Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 6th Fleet area
of operations in support of naval operations to maintain maritime
stability and security, and defend U.S., allied and partner interests in

PHILIPPINE SEA (Jan. 30, 2022) U.S. Marines with Battalion
Landing Team 1/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU),
return from a boat rehearsal aboard the amphibious transport
dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) in the Philippine Sea, Jan.
30, 2022. The 31st MEU is operating aboard the ships of the
America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of
operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners
and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and
