Clare Minor Camogie Report 2019/2020

We commenced training in November 2019 calling out to clubs to send in their top players for
contention, the management having been at all U16 and Minor matches throughout 2019 invited
individuals who were preforming well. Training started in Clarecastle facilities with 60 players, where
everyone player received 6 weeks of training concentrating on the following – Strength and physical
sessions, Core and fitness, Hurling and finally Sports and Mental well being physiology.

With full attendance at these sessions, the players learnt skills that will assist them for longevity into
               their Camogie Career.

Following the 6 weeks of training we reduced our panel after a few Challenge matches. With the
new introduction of the Munster Championship in early February, Clare successful won the Munster
Cup. As this was early in the season, we used this competition as bonding trip for all, the weather
was horrible, but the players rallied and became a tight team.

March, the first round of the All Ireland competition we travelled in cars to Kilkenny, with the start
of Covid restrictions we had minimum time in dressing rooms and restrictions on field entry. Again,
with bad conditions and missing quiet a few players we succumbed to Kilkenny.

Following this match, the country went into lock down. As a squad we continued to train through
Zoom and weekly challenges, this age group had a lot of obstacles going against them, Studying for
leaving Cert at home, no graduations, no contact with friends, finishing school and starting college in
these different times. We felt the continuity of training assisted the players in their mental health
               and stability.

September saw the return to County training where players were delighted to meet with fellow
members of the team, during these few weeks we trained twice a week with no contact.

Unfortunately, a week before we were due to play Galway the country went into lock down again,
we continue to await and see what/how the season will end for this great bunch of players.

I would like to thank all the players, Parent and clubs that assisted and continue to assist the Minor
               team in their preparation.

The management team would like to acknowledge the cooperation from the other County teams -
U16, Junior and senior squads and management. This cohesiveness is a tribute to all involved in
               Clare Camogie.

Thank you to the County Board and executive team for their continued support.
