4. Solving by Categorizing
Unit Overview
Categorization is a process of distinguishing a category or area according to
certain characteristics. It is also a basic process for solving problems
mathematically. In this unit, students will set one standard to express
categorizing and statistical data into table and mark with symbols like O and
organize the data into tables. Through categorizing activities, students will
notice that data are easily identified through graphs or tables and feel
comfortable when comparing results. Furthermore, these activities will teach
students to predict future situations by interpreting and using tables and
graphs.
