Importance of Stacking Wooden Blocks 119Spatial Sense
Stacking wooden blocks are applied in a variety of topics. Students who have the experience of stacking
wooden blocks or who have an exceptional spatial sense can look at a drawing to imagine the different views
of stacked wooden blocks, but students who do not have these experiences have a hard time doing so. Stacking
wooden blocks is an activity that can be used to practice with 3 dimensional figures.
118 NUMINO Challenge K2
The shapes of objects and animals change with the perspective of the person who
observes them. Allow the students some time to think about the different views. If the
students are having difficulty, guide the students to place an object on their desk and have
them observe it from different views.

Elementary Stacking Wooden Blocks Activities 121Spatial Sense
There are various fun activities that can be used to develop spatial sense:
1. Look at the stacked wooden blocks and make the same figure.
2. Stack wooden blocks the way a friend is describing.
3. Make various figures.
4. Look at the stacked wooden blocks, and find the number of wooden blocks that are used.
5. Make all possible forms with a given number of wooden blocks.
6. Look at the top, front, and side views to draw and color the stacked wooden block figure.
120 NUMINO Challenge K2
Observe the different views that can be made with the stacked wooden blocks, have the
students find the appropriate colors that fit in each view. If they have difficulty drawing
figures with different views, have them indicate location of the figures with colors.
