3. Shadows and Mirrors
Unit Overview
The problems in this unit include shadows and reflections of various objects.
Shadows are observed by looking at the shape of the objects and the size or
length of the shadow according to where the light is hitting the objects. When
looking at mirror reflections, the position of the actual object versus the reflection
must be observed. These activities and exercises expand on the direction and
location concepts learned previously to develop students’ spatial sense. The
reflection also touches upon the concept of flipping.
