B WRITING CONCLUSIONS
A CONCLUSION is the last sentence of your writing. It brings your topic to
a close for your readers. Here are two ways to write a conclusion:
• Tell your main idea in different words.
• Ask a question about the main idea.
EXAMPLE Here’s the same paragraph, with two different endings.
My first space flight was a disaster. I spilled juice on my space suit. My luggage
got lost. I forgot to bring the map to Mars. We even landed on the wrong planet!
Everything was going wrong on this trip.
