Recent evidence suggests that Climate Change is real and
reflects an imbalance in our global systems. Humans through their
unsustainable livelihoods are contributing to Climate Change.
This is driven by an economic system that disregards the limits to
growth as defined by our planets boundaries. Current trends in
globalisation lead towards environmental degradation and social
                                         injustice.

In order to address the sustainability challenges in education we
need to change our thinking to embrace a more relevant holistic
Useful Websites perspective that includes systems thinking. One approach to ESD
is Education for Strong Sustainability and Agency (ESSA).

According to the ESSA approach the final goal for a sustainable
society has to embrace the vision that “all social and economic
development has to take place within the planetary boundaries.”

At a more local level Fundisa For Change have developed an
Useful Websites approach to ESD that is based on the Active Teaching and
Learning Framework (ATLF). This CAPS aligned framework

This resources toolkit has been developed with the above
influences in mind. Firstly, we have adopted an ESSA approach to
ESD. Secondly we have use the ATLF to guide our thinking in the
