3. Reflection and self-assessment
The homework of the first week was useful because I was able to review
professions, workplaces, nationalities and routine activities.
I´ve also reviewed simple and continuous tenses (present and past) when doing
the homework of this past two weeks.
Writing the opinion in the first text was hard for me, it has been too long since I
wrote in English for the last time. I used orthography review and thesaurus
included in Word and perhaps my grammar was not totally correct.
From second week’s activities, it was the first time I´ve heard something about
reading techniques, probably one uses them without noticing it.
At the time of doing the activities of the second text, I realized how much I need to
practice. In this last part, I had to use the Cambridge Dictionary on line.
By the third week I thought I knew the vocabulary for places in town and clothes,
as well as future tenses, but reviewing it, allowed me to learn them again.
For my third text about driverless technology, I confess I´ve tried Merriam Webster
translator on line to check of some sentences with which I was not quite keen
about, even after using it, I´ve changed the sentences.
Before beginning these English lessons, I thought my English was good enough
not to need any other course, because I´ve learned it in primary school when I
attended to a bilingual school. I studied in English texts while I was in my career
and attended a course in the United Kingdom for a month in 1988 without any
communication problem.
