Now you will set in a couple of lifting eyes at the corners of the top edge.
From the spot where the end piece of ⅜-inch (9 mm) line is spliced into the
selvage, measure out 6 inches (150 mm) and put a mark on the selvage. Measure
another 6 inches (150 mm) from this mark, and make another mark. Pinch the
line together so the two marks meet.
To make the eye permanent, put a tight seizing where the marks meet (see
page 127 for seizing instructions). Make a second eye at the other end.
To form the squares, splice another piece of ⅜-inch (9 mm) line to the left
selvage, 6 inches (150 mm) below the eye. Splice in the six remaining strands at
6-inch (150 mm) intervals.
