Read through the instructions before you begin, and try to visualize the
process. If you do this first, building the net will be much easier.
Cut 14 12-foot (3.7 m) lengths of ⅜-inch (9 mm) line. These pieces will serve
as the body of the net. (Here’s a hint: Tape the place where the rope is to be cut,
then cut through the tape. This will keep the ends from unraveling.)
For the selvage (the perimeter of the net), you’ll need the whole length of ⅝-
inch (16 mm) line uncut. Take up the ⅝-inch (16 mm) piece and splice one of the
14 pieces of ⅜-inch (9 mm) rope into its center. This is a simple ring splice,
except that the center strand runs through the selvage to keep it from sliding. The
first and third strands simply run around the selvage.
