                  Teams/Teamwork

 Helping Your Team Achieve High Performance
When team members have skill and experience, they're likely to produce acceptable results. In today's
business environment, however, teams often are under pressure to produce more than just acceptable
results. As the leader, you can proactively create conditions that allow your team to reach peak performance
quickly and without undue strain on any individuals.

                Launching a Successful Team
"Sorry to miss the meeting." "I thought we resolved this." "We don't need to be working on that now." "I
never agreed to that." "Is this what we're supposed to be doing?" "I haven't been able to put much time in on
this." Are you hearing things like this from your team and wondering why they aren't accomplishing what
you'd expected? Help your team develop a charter that provides the structure and guidance they’ll need to
               deliver great results quickly.

 Pulling Your Team Out of a Slump
Every team has its ups and downs. Your own team probably has celebrated its successes and learned from its
mistakes. But slumps in performance? That's another story. They can be difficult to pinpoint. They take their
time in making an impact on productivity, quality, or timeliness while they slowly and quietly eat away at
team morale and performance. But as difficult as they are to identify and fix, slumps demand your
               attention—the sooner the better.

                Setting Team Goals
A team functions as a team only when every member works toward the same goals, such as productivity,
quality, service, and timeliness. But too often, personal goals take precedence over team goals. Also, a lack of
clear team goals often can lead people to be reactive instead of proactive. When either of these happens, the
entire team suffers. On the other hand, successful teams have a clear strategy in place to coordinate their
               efforts.
