                 Communicating For Leadership Success *Participants must attend all sessions to receive course credit
               Many organizations focus on technical skills as all-important to success in the workplace. Yet strong interpersonal skills
               are equally essential in transforming individual contributors into exceptional performers who have a greater impact in
               their roles. This foundational course provides individuals with a powerful set of interaction skills that enables them to
               communicate more effectively with colleagues and customers and, in the process, build trust, strengthen partnerships,
               and achieve desired results.

                   Session I:  Leadership Today (and Every Day)
                   Facilitator leads an activity to introduce personal and practical needs, and then introduces the Interaction
                   Essentials.  Participants  watch  a  video  that  shows  the  variety  of  demands  a  leader  faces,  and  the
                   facilitator highlights the importance of meeting team members’ needs.

                   Session II:  The Key Principles to Meet Personal Needs
                   Facilitator introduces the five Key Principles. Participants discover key insights about Esteem, Empathy,
                   Involvement, Support and Sharing.  Participants watch two video segments that show a manager using
                   Key  Principles.  Facilitator  leads  the  group  as  they  read  several  situations  and  choose  an  effective
                   response for each one.

                   Session III:  Practically Speaking - The Interaction Guidelines
                   Facilitator  introduces  the  Interaction  Guidelines  to  meet  practical  needs.  Participants  watch  a  video
                   leader effectively use these skills during a discussion with a team member. Learners begin to complete a
                   Discussion Planner for an upcoming workplace discussion.

                   Session IV:  Using Effective Feedback for Leadership Success
                   Facilitator  leads  a  discussion  about  the  nature  of  feedback  in  the  learners’  environment.  Facilitator
                   introduces the STAR approach to providing positive and developmental feedback. Participants practice by
                   writing a STAR and commit to deliver it to a co-worker.

               AUDIENCE: Team Leaders, Charge Nurses, Supervisors, Managers & Directors
