EXERCISE | How Happy Are You? Find Out With The Circle of Happiness
Referring to the ten steps of happiness, you might like to print this page and plot your score for
how satisfied you feel in each area out of ten. When you have plotted a score for each, draw a
continuous line connecting the scores. The ‘bumpier’ the shape that appears indicates the ‘less-
than-smooth’ journey to happiness you are presently undertaking.
Zero or 1 is dire, suggests you have a lot of work to do to arrive at a happier state. Ten is a little
optimistic. If you score yourself ten in every area and mean it sincerely, I congratulate you on
achieving such an incredible state of self-satisfaction. However, I would suggest there is little
more these sessions can add to your current state of euphoric bliss!
Seriously though, be realistic in your rating of each area. The GAP between where you are and
where you would like to be, summarises where you need to focus to bring a balanced level of
happiness and fulfilment to your life.
This exercise helps identify the key areas of your life where a GAP presently exists between
where you are now and where you want to be, so you may take action with the aim to arrive at
a smoother circle and a more balanced life. Repeat the exercise frequently to monitor your
progress in each area.
