This work combines round brocade knots
43 and rams’ heads to form an elegant
plafond design which stresses the planar nature
of the four outer loops of both the big and the
small round brocade knots.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Use 32 ear loops to make the big central round
broacde knot, with every eight loops forming a
single unit.
2. On each unit, tie a ram’s head followed by a
round brocade knot with six outer loops. Then,
on one of these outer loops, tie a butterfly-like
round brocade knot followed by a round brocade
knot with six outer loops.
3. After completing one of the ram’s head units,
pull the cord end within and make a round, form-
ing an ear loop for the knotting of the inner
round brocade knot.
The main focus of this design is the
44 change in the weave in the side knots,
both inside and outside each corner loop of the
hui ling knot.
TYING INSTRUCTIONS
1.With both cord ends, tie four cloverleaf knots
with two outer loops and shared adjacent loops
using the wrap one, pull one technique.
2. Use twelve ear loops on each side to tie a hui
ling knot.Tie a cloverleaf knot on the second,
sixth and tenth outer loops on each side, and a
cloverleaf knot with two outer loops on the fourth
and eighth loops and also the corner loop on each
side. Notice the inner corner of the hui ling knot
has a 180-degree two up, two down shift.
3.The central outer loop involves two up, two
down interlocking.
