Messages
The Message feature allows you to communicate directly with your managers within Self Manager. As
an administrator you can write messages to individual managers or send group messages to multiple
managers. Managers can send messages to you and reply to the messages you send to them.
The Messages Page
1. You access the Messages page by selecting Messages from your menu.
2. On this page, you see a list of all messages published to date, along with details on each
message’s priority level, title, number of comments, who the message is visible to, and when the
message was first published.
3. You can view, edit or delete the messages you have published on this page by clicking on the
buttons next to each individual message.
4. Messages that have been published by your managers can only be edited or deleted by them.
Adding a New Message
1. Click on the Add a Message button on the top of the Messages page.
2. On the Create a Message page, enter a title for your message, set a priority for your manager/s’
reference, and select which manager/s the post is visible to from the drop-down menu.
3. You can make a message visible to yourself only – for instance if you want to make a message
visible at a later date you can leave it visible only to yourself until you are ready to share it. You
can also keep a message visible only to yourself if you want to utilise the Messages section for
record keeping purposes.
4. In the Content window you can either start typing your message, or you can copy-paste text you
have prepared in an external word processing application.
5. Use the formatting tool bar to format your text, insert hyperlinks or add images to the message.
6. Click the Submit button to save your message and post it to its recipients.
7. If you send messages to individual managers, they have the access to respond to these. Group
messages (Visible to All Managers or multiple Selected Managers) can only be viewed by the
managers.
