CHAIN TENSIONER SHOE If the chain tensioner shoe is worn to the point where proper adjustment cannot be obtained, replace the shoe as follows: Remove primary chaincase cover. See under CHAINCASE COVER See Figure 6-18. Verify chain tensioner shoe is resting on bottom lip of primary chaincase. Remove retaining ring (4) and discard. Remove shoe (5) from chain tensioner (1). Install new shoe (5). Install new retaining ring (4). Adjust primary chain tension. See Tighten top center nut (3) to 21-29 ft-lbs (29-39 Nm). CAUTION The gasket between the primary chaincase cover and chaincase must be replaced each time the cover is removed. Failure to repl
