7. To bring the cover over the bulkiest part of the throat, grab the rope
with one hand at the overhand knot you tied in the first step. With the
other hand, grip the cover just above the knot and push it up toward the
splice (arrow). A sharp, jerking motion is sometimes required to force the
cover over the thickest sections of the throat.
