SCHOOL CONTEXT

School community focuses on the area in which the school is

situated. New Nation school is situated in Vrededorp sub-township

area, it is known for a high level of crime and drug abuse. As a result,
learner attendance becomes
a challenge, because some

learners also engage in these
substance abuse activities

and crime. The community at
large seems to be welcoming

and the members of the
community engage in events

such as sport day and award
ceremonies hosted by the

school.

The school on Sundays it is used as gathering place by different

people to conduct religious activities (church). With regards to the
boundaries of the school the community is welcoming and

accommodating since both learners and the staff share a common
understanding, and often the same language, law, manners and

tradition. They can interact and relate to each other.
