Women’s Group of the Greens
Presidents’ Message
We invite all Greens residents, their friends and families to our
annual book and Author Luncheon at Crest Hollow County Club on
Thursday, May 17, 2018. Our speaker will be Lauren Belfer, a best-
selling, award winning author of historical fi ction. Her novels, City of
Lights, A Fierce Radiance, and And After the Fire portray the effect
the wider world has on individual lives. Proceeds raised at this event
will be donated to two charities that fi ght homelessness on Long Island: 1) Habitat for Humanity of Suf-
folk, which pairs volunteers and low-moderate income families who together build and renovate homes, and
2) Rebuilding Together Long Island, a group that rebuilds or modifi es homes for low income veterans,
elderly, disabled, and families with children. Don’t miss this special, worthwhile event.
Women’s Group of the Greens now has over 500 members and we feature programs and activities 12 months
a year. Although we are writing this in the winter, our Education and Social Committees are hard at work
investigating a variety of ideas and planning for the spring and summer months. We can use YOUR help in
facilitating our endeavors. Whether you’re a new or a long-term resident or a recent retiree we welcome your
ideas and need your energy. We especially need women who are computer savvy or who are willing to be
trained. As you probably already know, money we raise through our activities will be donated to a variety
of charities all of which are nominated by WGG members and vetted by our Philanthropy Committee, which
also is seeking new members. PLEASE CONTACT US TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP IN ANY WAY YOU
CAN. WE DO NEED YOU!
Many of our activities and programs fi ll up quickly. Remember to watch your emails and read the Around
the Greens bulletin for all the new and continuing study groups, trips, lectures and trips we have in store
for the spring and summer months.
