Greetings from Harry Koenig Co-Chair and the Members of the A&A Committee
When you receive this publication, remember spring is in the air and the A&A Committee is getting ready
to spruce up The Greens. The winter has been unkind to our roadways but at the time of writing this ar-
ticle it appears that our plants, trees and shrubs have not sustained any severe damage. The Committee
will be out shortly to assess more thoroughly as spring sets in.
Last year was a very exciting time as we continued to fi ne tune the delivery of landscaping services by our
three crews of landscapers. Part of the success has been their increased familiarity with our large grounds
and the fact that they have been able to spend more uninterrupted time at their various tasks.
We would like to thank the homeowners for their help in not contacting the landscapers during their
normal work hours as the HOA and management have directed the landscapers to have all requests from
Homeowners be directed to the HOA offi ce. By speaking to the HOA Offi ce with your concerns the Com-
mittee can inspect and resolve the issue. All instructions will be coming from Frank Nieves (Property
Manager) then passed along to Harry Koenig, Hal Rosen and the A&A committee to resolve.
This past year we had a very intensive program in removing over 100 dead trees that populated The
Greens, as well as having a new fertilization program for the lawns, and this year we are planning a
pre-emergent program for the weeds in the beds and berms (SO PLEASE DO NOT PLAN ON PLANTING
      ANNUALS UNTIL AFTER MOTHERS DAY).
Upon our appointment (Harry Koenig and Hal Rosen) to head the A&A by the HOA Board last year we
immediately decided to address plantings and tree removals and areas that had a late start in pruning
shrubs and bushes. The A&A and Frank Nieves will be on top of the process for the upcoming spring/sum-
mer and fall. (REMEMBER AS IN EVERY YEAR PLEASE CONTACT THE HOA OFFICE TO FILL OUT FORMS FOR THE
“NO PRUNE LIST”. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ADHERE TO THE RULES ABOUT HEIGHT WHICH IS IN THE
HOUSE RULES). Again, Please Do Not Stop The Landscapers From Their Work With Directives.
One of the things we found out about our dying trees is that the beds around the trees should not be
mounded up with top soil or mulch as this causes the tree to strangle itself with its roots, trying to lo-
cate water. We ask homeowners NOT TO PLANT ANNUALS OR PERENNIALS TOO CLOSE TO THE BASE OF THE
TREE. We ask that you contact the A&A for suggestions.
In addition to last years refurbishing of the berms we are continuing this year and are working on
cleaning up the plants that are overgrown or have taken over the sites. We ask that if you want to do any
plantings in the berms please contact the A&A committee through the HOA offi ce so that we can
      coordinate the work.
One of our plans this year is to power wash certain areas of the Condo Apts. We have requested proposals
from several companies for bids. Once we agree on pricing the HOA offi ce will notify you of the dates this
work will be done. We are also discussing getting pricing should a homeowner want their patio or deck
      power washed at their cost.
The A&A committee will keep you informed of our plans as they are fi nalized.
I would like to thank the committee for all their help and dedication to the community. If you are
interested in volunteering your services to the committee please send in a resume to the HOA offi ce or
drop it off at my house.
LOOKING FORWARD TO A GREAT PLANTING SEASON!
