SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League

Glasgow City were in the middle of a busy week due to their involvement in the UEFA
Women’s Champions League but they have hit the ground running in SWPL 1 and opened up
with a 6-0 victory over Motherwell. Priscilla Chinchilla put them in front in the opening
minute and they went on to add further goals through Claire Walsh, an Ode Fulutudilu brace,
       Taylor Fisher and Mairead Fulton.
Hibernian have made an encouraging start as they defeated local rivals Spartans 3-0.
Alexa Coyle put Hibs in front from the penalty spot with five minutes on the clock and Colette
Cavanagh made it two midway through the first half. Michaela McAlonie rounded off the scoring
       on the hour mark.
Celtic made the trip north to take on newly promoted Aberdeen and returned with a
hard fought 4-2 victory under their belts. Charlie Wellings gave them a fifteenth minute lead and
after a Kelly Clark own goal had levelled the scores, Chloe Craig put them back in front three
minutes later. Wellings netted her second with nine minutes remaining and although Eilidh
Shore gave the Dons renewed hope by pulling one back, Craig made the game safe through an
       injury time penalty.
Another promoted side, Hamilton Academical, got off to a winning start with a 2-1
success away to Hearts. Aimee Anderson had put Hearts in front eighteen minutes from time
but Hannah Scott quickly equalised for the Accies from the penalty spot and Scott was to score
her second goal in the dying minutes to give Hamilton the three points, following up to tuck
home the rebound after her initial penalty - the Accies third of the game - had been saved by
       Charlotte Parker-Smith.
Dundee Utd narrowly missed out on promotion at the end of last season and they have
started well this time around with a 5-1 victory against Stirling University. Cassie Cowper
gave United a sixth minute lead and Erin Ross made it two, ten minutes later. Robyn Smith put
her team further in control with goals either side of half time and after Jodie Malcolm had
reduced the arrears for Stirling just before the hour, Danni McGinley completed the scoring for
       United.
            Boroughmuir Thistle also had
       a good day as they defeated St SWPL 1 P W D L F A Pts GD
