Scotland squad for double header
New Scotland head coach Pedro Martinez Losa has announced his first SWNT squad ahead
of their opening World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Faroe Islands.
Scotland travel to Hungary first up, before taking on the Faroe Islands at Hampden
Park in what is set to be an historic occasion.
Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Eartha Cumings has earned another call-up for the
upcoming matches after being involved in the June friendlies against Northern Ireland
and Wales. Brianna Westrup will also meet up with the squad for the second time
alongside Rachel Corsie who has been named as captain for the upcoming campaign.
In midfield, Caroline Weir will join the squad fresh from featuring in the Olympics
for Team GB and Lana Clelland will be aiming for her first competitive appearance for
Scotland since the World Cup in 2019.
Jane Ross has been recalled after missing the June friendlies following her
summer signing to Rangers and will be vying for a place in the starting line-up along with
AC Milan’s Christy Grimshaw who will be looking to gain her first competitive cap.
Martinez Losa is without the recently retired Kim Little as well as Fiona Brown and
Christie Murray who are currently recovering from injury.
Scotland are in a group alongside Hungary, Faroe Islands, Ukraine and Spain as
they begin qualification for the 2023 World Cup which will take place in Australia and New
Zealand.
The Hungary match will take place on Friday 17th September (7pm) at the
Hidegkuti Nandor Stadium in Budapest, while the Faroe Islands match at Hampden Park
is four days later (7.35pm).
