Let’s Understand
Aside from the drought that dries up plants and kills animals and
typhoon that brings flood, strong wind, and lowered atmospheric
temperature, other natural calamities or disasters also affects the growth
and life cycle of plants, animals, and humans. In this lesson, you will learn
more about how other conditions affect living things.
VOLCANIC ERUPTION is another environmental condition that
can affect plants, animals, and humans.
Plants can be destroyed over a wide area, during an eruption by
hot volcanic ashes but once cools off and washed by rain, nutrients from
these ashes can make plants grow again.

Livestock, other mammals, and insects have been killed by lava
flows, thick ashes, and poisonous gases.
Aquatic life can be affected by an increase in acidity, increased
turbidity, change in temperature, and/or change in the food supply. These
conditions can also damage or kill fish and corals.
