About the Author and about this Series of Books.
“If our educational system taught our children to understand their
feelings and to relate emotionally to themselves as well as to others,
rather than focusing on and rewarding their ability to store
information, the face of our world would change.”
Jenny Florence.
Born 1961, Therapist, Writer, Mother.
Before committing fully to my career as a writer and speaker,
I worked as an accredited counsellor and therapist for over 26
years. This has given me a good understanding of the kinds of
difficulties that so many of us face within our daily lives and
of course as a normal person I have learned huge life lessons
from my own life experiences.
As human beings, we are first and foremost relational beings.
And yet curiously, it is within relationship and in the area of
our relational skills where most of us seem to inevitably find
our greatest and most frequent challenges.
Our emotions sit right at the heart of all of our relational
exchanges. If we are to thrive and to be successful in our lives,
most specifically within our relationships, then developing
our understanding of emotions and strengthening our
capacity for emotional language and emotional
communication will be central in developing successful
relational skills.
