999.3.9 – THEFT (LARCENY)
133. Larceny: The wrongful appropriation of personal property with the intention of
permanently depriving the owner of its possession and use. (reference from –

134. Theft: (larceny); broadly: a criminal taking of the property or services of another
without consent *NOTE: Theft commonly encompasses by statute a variety of

**Any crime of theft that goes beyond petty theft (except highway robbery
– see Theft 999.3.9.?**) will automatically be escalated to adult status to
determine the justice for the crime.
135. Robbery: the crime of taking or attempting to take something of value by force
or threat of force or by putting the victim in fear. Robbery is differentiated from
other forms of theft (such as burglary, shoplifting or car theft) by its inherently
violent nature (a violent crime); whereas many lesser forms of theft are punished
