coffin, and I had the distinct honor to present
it to his wife, Pasty. As I write these words,
Patsy (who always called me her son) went to
be with Ham in Glory less than two weeks ago.
My only regret is that I had the opportunity to
spend more time with them, but I always had
lame excuses that I was too busy.
As Ham taught me, constant improvement and
focus are the keys. That can be difficult when
we have so many distractions, especially a
hyperactive guy like me. I remember going
hunting with him once, and he gave me a lesson
on trees. He pointed at and named every tree in
the forest. That literally blew my mind. And, oh
what a hunter and fisherman he was. He once
killed three wild turkeys with a single shot by
putting some type of feed in a straight line on
the ground, and while the turkeys were eating it,
he made a clicking sound, and the turkeys raised
their heads in unison, and "Bang!" one shot,
three kills. Many hunters who read this may be
saying, "So what," but I was fascinated, to say
the least.
I never adopted the patience for hunting, and I
still struggle with being patient at times on other
