Randi didn't find anything humorous about that
event. She literally froze on stage. To this day,
she has no desire to ever do public speaking.
Although anyone can learn to get over that fear,
she like many has chosen to hang onto it. What
was really funny to me was the fact that at her
speaking debut that evening, her two front baby
teeth were missing. It would have been much
easier to say the word "Honest" than it would
"Cheerful." The bottom line is that she learned
that fear, and daddy didn't help matters.
The developmental stages and the fears a child
learns as he or she develops are very interesting.
At around eight to ten months, babies begin to
understand ‘object permanence.’ Before this
point, if something is in their awareness it
exists. When it is removed from their awareness
it ceases to exist. But after this stage, the idea
that something is still in existence but just not
there at that moment occurs. This leads to other
trains of thought, like, ‘Where has daddy gone?
