  Part-time Sick Leave Accrual
Part-time employees accrue sick leave at 1.34 hours per payroll period, up to a maximum of 32 hours per year.
Sick Leave Uses
Sick leave may be used for any of the following situations:
 The employee’s personal illness;
 The illness or care of a spouse or domestic partner, child, parent, grandparent, or relative of the same by marriage or domestic partnership;
 Theemployee’spersonaldoctorordentistappointmentortoassistwithanyoftherelations mentioned in the second bullet point above.
Annual Rollover
The maximum accumulation of sick time is 160 hours. Once this maximum balance has been reached, no further accrual is possible until the balance falls below this amount.
Notification
Employees must notify the company at the earliest practical time regarding an absence or an anticipated absence. Employees should first try to reach their immediate manager; however, if their manager is unavailable, the employee should contact Human Resources or another manager. Text messages, email correspondence, and voicemail messages should be used only in emergency circumstances when an employee is unable to reach his/her manager or Human Resources directly.
Routine medical and dental appointments should be requested in advance to the extent possible. Employees must utilize the online human resources system when requesting sick time. For more instructions, please refer to the separate system instructions provided.
The employee’s manager has discretion when approving or denying sick time. Erbe reserves the right to deny requests based on business needs, subject to applicable federal, state, or local law.
Should an employee be absent from work three (3) or more consecutive sick days or have an absence that last three days or longer due to illness, Erbe will request medical documentation supporting the absence and the employee’s ability to return to work, with or without restrictions.
10-3. New Employee Accruals
New employees are provided pro-rated vacation and sick time based on the quarter they hired. The following is the pro-rated grants by quarter. Part-time employees receive half of each grant, depending on the quarter they start.
