P. 32
Lightning— represents force, light, power. Jesus said think not that I came to
destroy the law or the prophets. I came not to destroy but to fulfill (Matt. 5: 17);
That is Jesus came to demonstrate that natural and spiritual law are one. He
foresaw this very period when “the powers of the heavens shall be shaken” (Matt.
24: 29) that is the mental realms were to be broken up and He attributed this
phenomenon to the coming of the Christ as “lightning.”
The lightning strikes from the east and is heard in the west so will be the
appearing of the Son of man.
Who causes a flash of lightning and a clap of thunder?
James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, Jesus called them
sons of thunder.
I am the Lord your GOD, and there is none else. There is no God besides me. I
have clothed you that they may know from the rising of the Son and from the
west that there is none besides me. I created the light in the very beginning.
The LORD has created the earth by his Light; he has established the world by his
wisdom and has stretched out heaven by his understanding.
I have made the earth and created man upon it. I have stretched out the heavens
and all their host have I commanded. I have stirred man up in righteousness. I
will make smooth all his ways. He shall build my Temple and shall gather my
people neither for a price nor for a bribe, say the LORD GOD.
God Is Spirit
Issue: God Is Spirit
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was
formless and void, darkness was over the surface of the deep and the Spirit of
God moved over the waters.
Rule: Must Revere Him in Spirit and Truth
The time is coming, and it is here when the true believers shall revere the Father
in Spirit and in truth. The Father also desires believers such as these.
Argument 1: God Created the Spirit within Man
There is a Spirit in men. The breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
The Lord, who created the heaven and the earth, created the spirit of man within
him; and laid the foundation of the earth.
Into your hands I commit my Spirit, O Lord, and the God of truth.
Then Jesus cried with a loud voice and said, O my father, into thy hand I commit
my Spirit.
