Re: Initial Golf Facilities Assessment, Eagle’s Landing Golf Course

           Ms. Petito and Mr. Perry,

McDonald Design Group is pleased to provide the Department of Recreation and Parks the follow-
ing facilities assessment of the Eagle’s Landing Golf Course. This report is intended to provide an
overview of issues that can be addressed within a future thoughtful and thorough golf course mas-
           ter planning document.
Planning and renovating Eastern Shore golf facilities encounters a unique set of challenges in-
cluding evolving demographics and market fluctuations. Eastern Shore agronomy is particularly
challenging due to undesirable soils, high water tables, lack of surface drainage/elevation relief,
prevalent common bermudagrass infestation, brackish irrigation water, and salt water turf dam-
age. Your upcoming document must be sensitive to each of these issues to be successful.
The report’s information is organized within the following sections:

                  Overall Facility Impressions 3
                  Tees & Greens Analysis 4
                  Fairways & Roughs Analysis 6
                  Potential Bunker Improvements 9
                  Larger Flooding Issues 10
                  Next Planning Steps 13

Thank you for this opportunity. We are excited to be working in partnership with The Town of
Ocean City to further enhance the golf experience for Eagle’s Landing patrons.

                                               Respectfully Submitted,
