CYPRUS 2015 …. 2023

I was the only Young BPW member from Asia attending the young BPW European
Symposium in Cyprus in the year 2015. My only intention was to invite the BPW Eu-
ropean members to visit Nepal after the devastating earthquake of 2015 in Nepal. To
my surprise I was inspired by the women of Europe for their movement of women’s
empowerment from home, school to workplace and their fight for equal pay all over
Europe. This is why I started encouraging Young BPW members to attend BPW
events outside their country to learn from the good practices to support the global
movement of women for gender equality.
Last year 2023, while attending the 6th BPW Mediterranean Symposium in
Cyprus, it was even more overwhelming to see so many women in power making a
difference to uplift the status of women in Cyprus. This is what BPW is all about and
to be part of it as a moderator for the panel “Expanding Horizons: Empowering
Women to Thrive in Emerging Industries and Fields” with four other young change-
makers from Europe was really an eye-opening experience.

The panel consisted of dynamic speakers such as:

Isotta Rossoni - Young BPW Valletta Malta, a criminologist with a passion for
safe spaces, who brought her ongoing PhD work on sexual violence in migra-
                tion to the forefront.
Johanna Füten - Young BPW / Vice President of BPW Germany, engaged the au-
dience with her focus on empowering women in politics.
Maria Terzi - the CEO of Malloc, captivated the audience with her emphasis on
supporting female founders in the tech space.
Sheerah Kim - Executive Board Member ECC, delved into the critical realm of al-
gorithmic bias in AI and digital ethics.

Together, they formed a diverse panel discussing the empowerment of women to
thrive in various industries and fields.
