Focus Area Two: Quality of Care
Objectives
The purpose of this focus area is
to improve the quality of care for
people who suffer from asthma. The
quality of care an asthma patient
and their caregivers receive can
greatly impact the frequency and
intensity of asthma exacerbations.
• The specific focus area measures
that have been identified for quality
of care are:
• Improve the utilization of evidence-based
practices (EBPs) and nations standards of
care among primary care providers (PCPs)
for the diagnosis and management of asthma.
• Improve medication adherence among asthma patients.
• Improve trigger mitigation and avoidance among asthma patients.
• Increase utilization of asthma action plans for
all asthma patients.
• Improve asthma control in school and
daycare settings.
Focus area two objective measures are included
in Appendix B.
