2015 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR

July 16 – 19, 2015, Sorors from all over the world assembled in
Chicago, Illinois for the 2015 AKA Leadership Seminar.
Approximately twenty Epsilon Gamma Omega Sorors made the
trip to the Windy City. Below are a few highlights:
AKA dedicated a bench at Grant Park to commemorate
1908 Playground Project
#AKA2015LS Chicago dignitaries joined AKA for a sign unveiling and
July 16 – 19, 2015 dedication to launch major Corporate Office renovations.
Dignitaries included Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, 5th Ward
Alderman Leslie Hairston and Civil Rights Icon the Rev. Jesse L.
Jackson, Sr.
Sorors packaged rice bags for children in the U.S
and abroad. The rice bags will provide 50,000 meals
for AKA’s Childhood Hunger service project “Stop
Hunger Now.”
AKA collected 2,822 backpacks and 8,578 school
supplies for the One Million Backpacks Initiative.
Also, the Hyatt Regency Chicago Management
donated 500 pink and green backpacks, filled with
school supplies for the campaign.
Supreme Basileus, Soror Dorothy Buckhanan #AKAImpactDay
interviewed actress Soror Lynn Whitfield during a
live taping of “Conversations.” The Conversations
series may be found on youtube.
