THE EGO Ivy Informer
The final Presentation and Ball was superb! Highlighting our Charter Members, Soror Evangeline Spillman and
Soror Fannie Pulley Thompson, at the 57th Debutante Presentation and Ball felt like the honorable thing to do, for
it is on their shoulders we stand. I am so thankful we were able to move the ball to Saturday night due to the
inclement weather.
The Founders’ Day Celebration of our 107 years of existence, led by Soror Stephanie Burton, Chairman
and Soror Blannie Batts Co-chairman, was celebrated with the theme “Launching New Dimensions of
Sensational Sisterhood.” This program positively launched our rededication and commitment to sisterhood.
Our Supreme Basileus, Soror Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson has established a new Sisterly Relations Committee.
The committee functions at the international, regional and chapter levels using a guide developed to convey the
importance of strong sisterly relations. It is an honor for me to serve on the Regional Sisterly Relations
Committee. Soror Barbara Williams is the chairman of the Sisterly Relations Committee for our chapter. As we
move forward, each chapter member will gain an understanding of how the efforts and activities of this committee
are aligned with a segment of the Basileus’ Vision; “Bring the Soror Code of Ethics to life by illustrating actions
that strengthen the bonds that unite each soror.”
The 83rd South Eastern Regional Conference – “Powerful Pearls Launching New Dimensions of
Service” was a fertile ground for gaining knowledge and receiving beneficial information to help our chapter
effectively launch our new programs of service and chapter operations. I was energized by the excitement I saw
in our chapter members after they attended the workshops on Saturday morning. I received phone calls and text
messages from excited “EGO Sorors” who are ready to share and implement their new knowledge. Highlights
and portions of chapter delegates’ reports will be made available for everyone, while each comprehensive delegate
report will be on file as a part of the chapter records.
Responding to the welcome to the 83rd South Eastern Regional Conference was an enjoyable assignment
because it denoted complete closure to all duties and responsibilities of the 82nd South Eastern Regional
Conference. However, it was delightful to hear from our chapter members and sorors of Cluster 2 the many
compliments they received during the regional conference about the magnificent 82nd SERC held in the Rocket
City, hosted by Cluster 2, chairman, yours truly, and led by the 24th South Eastern Regional Director, Soror
Adrienne P-K Washington, a member of Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter.
Seventy-two sorors verified their attendance at the Regional Conference with Soror Gloria Hemphill.
Several sorors did not, therefore, we are certain we had more than 72 in attendance. Good news! We brought
home two awards; Overall Pre-Launch Achievement Award and the Walker-Rigsby – Collaboration Award.
Congratulations Sorors!
The spring joint chapter meeting will be held April 11, 2015 and I look forward to planning the meeting
with the Gamma Mu and Omicron Zeta Basilei. The host chapter is Omicron Zeta and the meeting will be held
at Alabama A&M University. Omicron Zeta sorors along with EGO’s Sisterly Relations Committee are planning
a special activity for our enjoyment. Stay tuned to the EGO Update for details.
As we continue to Launch New Dimensions of Chapter Operations the chapter standing committee lists
and program committee lists will be distributed at the April Chapter meeting. The standing committees have been
appointed per the Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter bylaws. Some standing committees have been appointed and
are functioning and those remaining will be finalized and all will be distributed in April.
Sorors, I remain excited about “Launching New Dimensions of Service” programs while leading the
“Launching of New Dimensions for Epsilon Gamma Omega Chapter” as your Basileus. Thank you for the
opportunity to serve.
