THE EGO Ivy Informer
SISTERLY RELATIONS
Launching New Dimensions of Service as we “Nurture Our Ivy”
From our Supreme Basileus, Soror Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson and Chairman of the Sisterly Relations
Committee, each chapter will establish a Sisterly Relations Committee. EGO is proud to present the Sisterly
Relations Committee with Soror Barbara Williams, Chairman, Soror Mary Rankins, Co-Chairman and several
sorors who will plan and implement Sisterly Relations activities for the chapter. We are excited and ready to
launch the suggested themes found in “Nurturing Our Ivy: A Soror to Soror Guide.” Our committee will function
as a stand-alone committee, independent of the Membership Committee.
The Chapter Sisterly Relations Committee shall:
Encourage all members to model the behavior of integrity, civility, respect and care at the
chapter, regional and international levels.
Plan and implement activities that will foster and support the core values established in our
Sisterly Relations Program and Soror Code of Ethics.
Plan activities in support of the suggested monthly themes on the Sisterly Relations Calendar.
The Guide provides examples of model behaviors every soror can exhibit to promote unity and friendship among
our members.
1. Be polite, kind, honest, fair and conciliatory.
2. Represent AKA appropriately at all times.
3. Keep confidences and main confidentiality with honesty and trust.
4. Recognize and value the contributions of each member.
5. Assist with the special needs of elderly and disabled sorors.
Suggested themes given in the guide include: International Sisterly Relations Day, Pink Hearts Celebration,
Diamond, Golden and Silver Sorors Shower of Love, Intergenerational Bonding between Graduates and
Undergraduates, Celebrating Legacies, Sisterly Regional Recognitions, Sisterly Relations Outing, Sisterly
Service Activity, Sisterly Feast and Leadership Recognitions.
Upcoming Activity April 11, 2015: Intergenerational Bonding between Graduates and Undergraduates
The next Sisterly Relations Activity will be immediately following the Joint Sorority Meeting in April. Please
be prepared to bond as sisters with our undergraduates and have a great time. We need everyone to stay, bring
your dancing shoes and enjoy. Check your weekly update for more information.
