2020 JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION

Target 4 hosted the “2020 Juneteenth Celebration”
via ZOOM. Thirty-Nine guests participated in the
Discussion of “Barracoon-The Story of the Last “Black

Cargo” by Zora Neale Hurston, who was a renowned
Harlem Renaissance writer. The discussion panel
included family members of the last living survival of
the U.S. slave ship known as the Clotilda and the
Clotilda Descendants Association. This event was
facilitated by Soror LaDonna McCann.

TARGET 5: EGO SHOES AND EYEGLASSES

DRIVE-THRU COLLECTION

Target 5 hosted a Shoes and Eyeglasses Drive-Thru
collection as a continuation of the Epsilon Gamma
Omega (EGO) Virtual Shoes and Eyeglasses project.
This project was kicked off in support of Global
Impact Day in April, where EGO Sorors were asked
to collect shoes and eyeglasses from the confinement
of their homes. The donations of shoes and
eyeglasses were dropped off at our Drive-Thru
collection site at First Missionary Baptist Church,
Blue Spring Road on June 25th. The shoes were
packaged for shipping at Monrovia Elementary
School on June 27th. Target 5 collected 468 pairs of
shoes. Twenty-three boxes of shoes were shipped to
our Soles4Souls partners on June 27th. We also
collected 61 pairs of eyeglasses for our local Lions
Club partners. Thank you Sorors for your donations!
